Calling all Woodworkers and Craftsmen!
Have you ever wanted to build a beautiful wooden boat but been afraid to tackle such a large project? Have you admired wooden canoes and kayaks and thought they were too difficult or complicated to build? If so, join us for a tour of the process and viewing of the end-product.
Don’t worry if you don’t have a shop with lots of saws and tools. Joel will show you how you can use simple tools and wood strips available from many wood suppliers to build almost any boat you can imagine from dinghy, canoe, kayak to fairly large power boats. You will be amazed how simple it is and how satisfying it can be.
Joel and his wife Susan set out last August to build a 10 ft dinghy, which will be on display at the event. Having taken pictures throughout the 5-month building process, you can see the magic come together strip-by-strip and clamp-by-clamp. He will detail how you build the skeleton upon which the strips are placed and glued together, and will share the final steps of fiber-glassing the hull.
