We were members from the start, the club was in our neighborhood, but for a few years we never used the club. Several reasons: work, family, I didn’t know anyone, etc…you know the drill. Then one night we decided (actually I did) to go to the club for dinner, I wanted to meet people!! Full parking lot (what had we been missing!!) lots of people inside!! We were met by a sweet, friendly couple; Bill & Faye Pender. They kindly informed us that we needed a reservation because it was a full house; it was Blue Moon!! What was “Blue Moon” we asked; Food, Fun, Friends, Dancing. Sounded like my cup of tea; they encouraged us to come the next month. So when I saw a crazy email about Blue Moon, I signed up. We didn’t know anyone, so we sat at one of the big tables. I happened to sit beside Marlene & Ray Viers, wonderful friendly couple. We talked & talked, she introduced me to a few people. She wanted me to get on the social committee, John talked with Ray about hunting, guns, medicine, etc., we had a wonderful evening. We started coming to events, used work out room, etc. I met so many nice people, but still didn’t KNOW anyone, I always felt comfortable & everyone was friendly. This went on for quite awhile, until I started joining in, and found some of the nicest people. Many of the members have been friends for years, their children grew up together & now their grandchildren. They have history & that tells you their commitment to friends; & they always welcome new ones, I’m a good example, so don’t be afraid to join in. This is a place I can come even when my husband is out of town. And I know I will see a friendly face & not feel funny about having a drink or eating a meal by myself. I wont be by myself for long. It feels like home, I couldn’t go anywhere else & feel that way, I would sit at home.
